How much does tuning cost?
Our rate for a basic tuning is $125 ($100 for currently-enrolled students).
How often should my piano be tuned?
It’s recommended that acoustic pianos be tuned at least once a year for standard home use.
Why does my piano go out of tune, even if it isn't being played?
Pianos have many wood and felt parts, which are very sensitive to changes of temperature and especially humidity. For example, as the humidity fluctuates with the seasons, the wooden soundboard will expand and contract, causing the pitch of the piano to rise in the summer and drop in the winter.
How can I help my piano stay in tune better?
The piano should ideally be in a room with consistent temperature and humidity, away from heating/cooling vents, drafty windows, and doors that are frequently opened to the outside. Consistent tunings will also help the piano maintain pitch better between tunings.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for your visit?
Yes. please clear any items (books, photos, decorations) off the top of the piano and make sure the piano is easily accessible. It is also very helpful if the room is kept as quiet as possible during the appointment so the tuner can listen closely to the piano.
